Near Sa Mian islet is a well known street in GuangZhou: Shang Xia Jiu Lu (road). On this pedestrian street, you find a long row of shophouses selling apparels, shoes, and gourmet cantonese foods. Nearby are also shophouses selling all forms of handicrafts such as decorative stone carvings, etc. Accordingly, this is also the place where the 1st euporeans arrived and dwelled.

Another well known merchandise street in Guangzhou is Bei Jing Lu (Road). On this pedestrian mall you find modern shopping complexes. The interesting part of this mall is you'd find ruins of a thousand year old road that remains from ancient guangzhou city (dating back to the song dynasty).
