A Voter's View of the Hustings:

Observations on December 27th, Campaign Day Four.

Urrrrrgggggghhhhhhhhhhh! Day #4 of continued unashamed biased reporting by the local media.

  1. The PAP is running out of ideas and issues. They cannot continue to harp on the upgrading carrot. They got whacked by the US State Dept. Good. The PAP's damn arrogance is deeply shocking. Notice how LKY has to come in to help out? In the last election in 1991, he only came out towards the end of the campaign period. I think the PAP is sensing that since even the US has commented, their HDB upgrading bluff cannot hold up to scrutiny. Mr Trouble Shooter has had to intervene and it is only Day 4.

  2. I am sure most will remember that the WTO Conference's boring proceedings (which really only had delegates sing praises of how comfortable the arrangements were) were broadcast live on TV. If the government can spend S$18M on that, I cannot see why there aren't any indepth discussion programs, live broadcasts of rallies, interviews with the voters, investigative reporting, TV debates between the leaders of the various parties, and opinion polls? Oops, this is Singapore. The lobotomized media does not know how to do this, or if they knew, their political masters will say no. If anything like that is ever done, a lot of the PAPs policies will fall flat (not that the non-PAP parties have any thing much better). We demand and need better coverage of the issues instead of the highly edited, controlled and sanitized stuff being wastefully broadcast.
