A Voter's View of the Hustings:

Observations on January 1st, Campaign Day Nine and the last one.

Just got back from the last WP rally for this century at the Yio Chu Kang Stadium. I was late in arriving - got there only at about early 9ish. I was driving along Yio Chu Kang Road, and to both my wife's and my surprise, there were cars parked on both sides of the dual carriage way and in places double parked. These are cars of people attending the rally at the stadium which is a good 1-2 km away!

  1. I too had to park my car illegally - right under the noses of a TP cop - and began the walk to the stadium. It was about 9:20 p.m. I could see many people walking away from the direction of the stadium. I reckoned that I should still go on to the stadium and to hear what the WP has to say. We walked and walked. We could see nothing by people walking both in and away from the stadium. We finally reached outside the stadium, just under the Yio Chu Kang MRT station. There was no way we could go into the stadium with a lot of people streaming out. In spite of the people moving, the rally was in full swing - cheering, chanting "Worker's Pary" etc etc. I could not see into the stadium so I cannot say how many were there - but going by the people streaming out, it must have been in excess of 10,000.

  2. I chatted up with a man standing next to me and he said that he had been to the other rallies tonight and of the 6 PAP rallies, two were cancelled because of NO audience, a moderate audience (whatever that means) at a SDP rally and then this massive turnout for the WP. The gentleman, a Singaporean Chinese, said that he is in the Jalan Besar GRC and is very pissed off with the PAP nonsense will be voting for the party running against the PAP. Good for him. He even nodded his head when I mentioned the importance of voting against the Jalan Besar team because of the Choo Wee Khiang racist comment.

  3. Boy, it feels good that the population goes out of its way to find the truth. Selective Truth aka Suppressed Truth aka Straits Times has shown its true blue nature - what a pile of wasted toilet paper. We should all cancel our subscriptions to that paper until and unless it plays fair.

  4. Today is the last day for campaigning. I have not bothered to watch the sham and mockery called "Party Political Broadcasts". Neither did I bother listening to it on the radio. It does not serve any more purpose. I have made up my mind on who I will vote for. There is also no need to read Selective Truth for it is nothing but a pap smearing mechanism for you know who.

  5. Before I reveal my vote - who cares about secrecy - I must say that I am indeed grateful to Lim Hng Khiang who, as Minister of National Development and MP for Telok Blangah (my constituency), did make the privatization of the HUDC estate I live in happen. Having said that, I would not expect any thing less from him - he is the MND minister afterall. It is not something that is above and beyond the call of his duty. If he was a lowly MP and did manage to get the MND minister to do all this, then I take my hats off to him. But, Hng Khiang, what you did was not exceptional - that is the least I would expect from you and that would be the job you are being paid to do.

  6. Before I go, I am deeply saddened by Chok Tong's unnecessary challenges to the Tang fellow. Chok Tong, even if Cheng San goes to the WP, which I am sure it will, your standing in my heart and mind is still way up there. You need not quit - I hate to think the unthinkable - Loong as PM. That, Chok Tong, is a even bigger blow to the Singapore you and I love. You do realize that Loong is not accepted by most Singaporeans as a leader. For the good of Singapore and all Singaporeans, stay as PM when Cheng San goes to the WP.
