Summary for Episodes 1-4 by
jun ji:
Chaegyung, an ordinary girl goes to school one
day to find out that the Prince of Korea and some other hot-headed
students had transferred to her school. While she is into Design, the
Prince, Lee Shin, is into photography and theatre. Chaegyung is on her way
to empty a pail of dirty paint water when she accidentally bumps into Shin
and then notices that she had spilled the dirty water onto his WHITE and
clean shoes! She bends down to clean them or at least tries but Shin
demands that she stops. He then takes them off and kicks them and tells
her to throw them out. Our heroine then dreams of comfronting the Prince
then imagines being kissed by the Prince, only to be awaken by reality and
realising that the Prince of Korea is a total JERK. Her friends, who are
absolutely obsessed with the Prince, come and start fighting over the
shoes and while they’re bickering, Chaegyung grabs them and leaves. She
finds out from her parents one day that she was betrothed from an early
age to the cold-hearted Prince of Korea. She is absolutely against it, but
because her family is in so much debt, she decides that if she marries the
Prince she will be able to help out her family with their debts. So
willingly she agrees with the marriage.
However, Shin proposes to his friend and secret Girlfriend, Min Hyorin in
hopes that she’ll say yes and he won’t have to marry Chaegyung who he
thinks is not up to his level and will never be. He had rather marry
Hyorin who comes from a rich family and is of his “level”. To his
surprise, Hyorin turns him down, stating that she didn’t want to live like
a doll behind the Palace walls and not be able to do anything, and that
she didn’t want to give up her dream of becoming a world-reknown Ballet
Dancer. With Hyorin’s answer, Shin gives in and agrees to marry the girl
who had overheard him, while eavesdropping, proposing to Hyorin, our
Heroine Shin Chaegyung.
While Shin and Chaegyung are both dreading their upcoming marriage, Shin’s
cousin Yul returns to Korea from England where he lived with his mother
for the past 14 years. You see, Yul was originally suppose to be the Crown
Prince of Korea, but because his father died while he held the title of
Crown Prince, Shin’s father became the next in line and when Shin and
Yul’s Grandfather died, Shin’s father became King and the title of “Crown
Prince” then became Shin’s. After the death of Yul’s father, it is a law
that the wife and children of the former Crown Prince leave the Palace
grounds, hence Yul’s mom taking him to England. (Did that make sense?)
Shin and Chaegyung attend the same school along with all their friends and
even Min Hyorin. Yul also joins them and this is where the story starts.
Before the Royal Wedding, Chaegyung moves into the Palace in order to
learn etiquette and some Royal History. She has a hard time adapting and
misses home terribly. Shin and Yul are in Shin’s quarters when Shin
decides that they should go visit, but Yul declines and says that it would
be better if Shin goes alone since Chaegyung is HIS (Shin’s) future wife.
Yul notes to Shin that women like candy and chocolates, and noting Yul’s
hints, Shin’s brings goodies to Chaegyung who is doodling pictures of her
friends and on Shin’s shoes., the ones he had previously told her to throw
out. He hands them to her and tells her they were from Yul but in fact he
had bought them himself.
The day of the Royal Wedding approaches and all of Korea are watching
whether in be on the streets or on tv, but also many others around the
world.
As the wedding is taking place with all the different ceremonies, Yul
watches on and for a moment he knew it could’ve been him in Shin’s
position, it all could’ve been his.
The Royal Couple’s first night isn’t at all like the traditional first
night where the husband and wife sleep together, but because Shin and
Chaegyung are still in highschool and are young (they’re both 19 years
old), the elders thought that they’d delay the “first night” till later so
they end their night with some food, wine, and a little bickering and
biting! Lol! While the Sanggoongs (Palace maids and servants) are falling
asleep out side the room, Shin and Chaegyung have a few words with each
other. Chaegyung asks that Shin help her to adapt to the Palace as she
isn’t use to the surroundings and all, and while our poor Princess is
asking for help, the Babo-Shin tells her that he isn’t the type to do
that, but the best he can do is listen to her if she needs to talk and so
forth. He then kneels and extends his out to her and Chaegyung takes it
and bites him and tells him that she wasn’t asking for a friend and tells
him how conceited he is in thinking that she wanted his friendship. She
then lets go and Shin is angry and raises his hand but the Sanggoongs gain
up and hold him back while our lovely Chaegyung is mocking her husband by
covering her ears and saying that she can’t hear him. Shin is dragged away
while Chaegyung is left alone in the room...on her wedding night, lonely
and sad.
Chaegyung is taken to her quarters of the Palace and is introduced to life
as a Princess. Her and Shin go for their early greetings to the elders and
Shin then brings up the promise his mom had made him, that if he were to
marry Chaegyung, he and his wife would then be allowed to move away from
the main palace. This surprises the Great Queen, Shin’s Grandmother, and
both his parents. He voices himself and then demands that his wife get up
so they could leave, and without a word, he drags Chaegyung out of the
room and they leave. They return to their Palace and Shin asks her what
she thought of his acting? He then tells her that it is a part of his
rebellion, lol! They get interrupted when the Eunich Ajusshi comes to
introduce to our Bingungmama her new bodyguards. Chaegyung also learns of
all of her assets that she’s acquired as the new Bingungmama, and learns
that she’s now...rich!!!
Shin and Chaegyung return to school to find a whole crowd of fellow
students snapping pictures of the two with their camera phones, hehe. Her
classmates ignore her on purpose only to surprise her later with a little
congratulatory party on her marriage to the Prince.
While Shin and Chaegyung are in school, Hyorin leaves to Thailand to
compete in a ballet competition where she is given a scholarship to study
abroad, but while sitting and chatting with the sponsers, on tv is a news
broadcast of the Royal Wedding in Korea. She sees Shin and then Chaegyung
and is filled with anger and bitterness and runs off to cry in her room.
She then returns only to turn down the offer of studying abroad like she
wanted to do in the first place and returns to Korea looking to fight and
win Shin back...after she had turned him down. |
Summary for Episode 5 by
jun ji:
Shin and Chaegyung are having breakfast and Shin receives a
phone call from Hyorin and eyes Chaegyung while he talks to Hyorin. He
hangs up and chaegyung tells him that she doesn't mind him talking to his
friends in front of her and Shin tells her that he will talk to whomever
he wants, needless if she is there or not. He also told her that the
reason he looked at her was because she had a rice stuck on her cheek,
hearing this Chaegyung turns and removes the rice and puts it in her
mouth. She then tells Shin that it was harsh of him to say that and even
though they were arranged, who is she to him to have him talk to her that
way. Shin replies saying that the only reason she married him was for
money...this saddens our Princess who stands up and says that that is
true, she did marry him for money, but she did it for her family, to help
ease their reputation a little and to help make life easier for them. She
also told him that she felt like the character from "Trap of Youth", to
marry a good husband and then scheme to take everything away from
him...she tells Shin all this while she cries and then runs out of the
room, leaving Shin is shock. Shin asks the Eunich Ajusshi about the drama
and ends up watching it out of curiousity of what Chaegyung said to him.
Chaegyung runs into Yul and thanks him for the chocolates and candies that
he sent with Shin, not knowing that Yul wasn't the one to bought them and
it was Shin himself.
Chaegyung returns to the Palace and sees Shin sitting there waiting for
her. Shin, trying to make up for what he said earlier asks if he should
invite her parents to the Palace, knowing how much she misses them.
Chaegyung is happy at hearing this but is still sadden that he is such a
jerk for saying how she married him for money only.
The next day Chaegyung disguises herself and ditches the guards to eat "Dotbokki"
with her friends after school on school grounds. Yul comes and they teach
him how to eat the spicey rice cakes, which he's never had before (Royalty
do not eat certain foods).
It is the day where Chae's parents will be visiting but before she sees
them, she has to finish her Palace Studies first and goes to Shin for help
but Shin refuses and walks away.
While her parents are visiting, Chaegyung gets lectured for going for her
handphone. She finishes her studies and hurries to her quarters to grab
the gifts she had prepared for her parents and gets to the Palace only to
realize that her parents had left. She sees that her parents had brought
her some of her fave foods and as she opens the containers she starts to
cry in missing her chance to see her them.
Chaegyung runs into Shin on her way out with her palace maids following
her with the foods her parents had left and stops to ask Shin what kind of
son-in-law he is to send her parents who came to see their daughter away.
Shin, not knowing that they left without seeing her is surprise. He wasn't
around thinking that it would be good for them to be alone but he was
surprise to find out that they never saw each other. He had also prepared
gifts for his in-laws as well.
Later that day, Chaegyung goes to see Shin in his quarters just as his
puts on his headphones and sets his cd player aside. She sits down and
begins talking to him, and thinking that he can't hear her, she asks him
if he had still liked Hyorin. Also saying that if they had never married
and he had married Hyorin, maybe he'd have a much happier look on his face
than he right then. Chaegyung also said that the thought of him married to
Hyorin didn't make her feel good either, it made her feel worse. Shin gets
up and leaves, saying he needed the restroom. Chaegyung, being curious,
goes over to where Shin had sat and fiddles with his cd player and curious
as to what he was listening to, opens it to find...nothing!!! There was no
cd! He wasn't listening to anything! Realising that he had heard
everything she had just said, she gets embarassed and rushes out of the
room, but Shin reappears and asks her where she was going...Chaegyung
answering..."nothing". She then runs back to her room and starts
panicking, hehehehe....
She then calls up her friend, Kang Hyun, who tells her that her story is
just like a book she is reading. She then asks if Chaegyung really liked
Shin or not, and at the question, Chae doesn't answer, signalling to Kang
Hyun, that her friend liked her husband.
A party is being held on Jejudo Island for Shin's birthday, everyone is
there including all their friends. However, Chae's friends sneak in and
end up being repremanded at the security office until Chae goes to bail
them out and Yul invites them to stay.
Shin's friends then sort of corner Chae and start bashing her in Engreesh,
only to be joined by Ho-Toot. Not knowing English chaegyung isn't able to
respond.
It comes time for Shin to open his gifts and his first gift is a mp3
player given to him by Ho-Toot, second comes a pair shoes with a very
unique design that was from Chaegyung to her husband. His friends start
making fun of the gift and Chae and so she leaves. She is seen sitting by
herself and her friends come to her, they have gifts for Shin and ask that
she introduce them so they can give him his gifts. they go over to Shin
who is relaxing on a lawn chair and Chae sits down, and then Shin's
friends appear with TOOT and tell Chae that the seat is not hers. Chae
looks down and sees that she was sitting on TOOT's fur shawl.
Chaegyung is sitting with her friends on the deck with their feets in the
pond splish-splashing... Chaegyung starts calling herself a fool and her
friends agree, lol! She starts babbling and then all of sudden blurts out
that shin had first proposed to Hyorin, which really surprises her
friends, and they dig for the truth but Chae then starts changing things
to weave them away from the subject. Yul appears and sits on the swing
behind them, he then asks why someone who's friends are with them could
look so gloomy (referring to Chae here)? He then comes up behind Chae and
pushes her into the water and then begins the fun water fight.
Shin is reading and hears the commotion and looks up to see his wife, his
cousin, and their friends splish-splashin' away and having a great time.
He then turns to the present Chae had given him and takes out the shoes
and with a small smile, he puts it on. The moment is then ruined by the
entrance to the scene by TOOT. She comes and sits beside him and then
plays with his mp3 player and asks whether he's used it yet, and he
answers "no". (He tries Chae's gift first!) TOOT then tries to put one
side of the earphones into Shin's ear but he hesitates. He then gives in
and lets her and while they're listening to music, TOOT moves closer in
and all is caught on camera by two photographers who also snuck into the
party after Chae's friends.
Shin and Chae return to the Palace and are in their rooms when Shin takes
out his mp3 player given by Hyorin when a necklace falls out and he picks
it up to look at it closely and smirks. Chae is in her room pacing, Yul is
looking outside his hotel room window and that's that.

Summary for Episode 6 by
beautifulxmess:
At the palace Shin is doing customary food testing for his
father. Chaegyung then arrives and is curious at what is he doing. When
she finds out, she wonders if they’re worried that there’s poison in the
food, hence the food testing, leaving shin scoffing at her ignorance.
Chaegyung then wanders outside to the patio and surprises Yul whom is
already quietly seating there. Shin who happens to be walking by glances
out of the glass doors to see Chaegyung and Yul happily conversing with
each other, jealousy written all over his face. Yul and Chaegyung then go
outside where Yul gives CG some pointers for her recital later in the
evening, enjoying each other’s comfort.
When she comes back inside she is rebuked by Shin for not having
propriety. He is still jealous over seeing CG and Yul together and starts
irrationally belittling her ability to study. This angers CG, claiming
that Shin is trying to make her look bad during the party by inviting Hyo
Rin and ignoring her. She asks him why didn’t he marry her if he had the
chance. He pulls up close to her face and is able to yell at her but
refrains himself. He then cuts it off by saying they must attend the white
lilies tea ceremony.
At the tea ceremony they all start to recite poetry. When it is
Chaegyung’s turn she basically recycles the line saying ‘The scents of
gardens fill the whole air” in every possible way that she could. This
amuses the adults as the Great Queen and King starts laughing. Shin is
anything but amused and looks at her in a shock manner. The Queen however
is not pleased and orders that rapid progress needs to take place on the
princess’s part.
At school, Chaegyung and Yul have more bonding sessions where Chaegyung
and friends teaches Yul some Korean slang at the cafetia.
Later on at the palace, Shin and the royal stewards tries teaching
Chaegyung ‘Gyuk Pa’, the Korean version of golf that was derived during
the old imperial days as a popular leisure activity for the royals. Shin
demonstrates his impeccable golf skills. He then exasperatedly teaches CG
the proper way of standing and hitting the ball . The adults peer down
from overhead and the Great Queen is overjoyed at seeing their
interaction. When it’s Chaegyung’s turn, Shin smirks. However, to
everyone’s disbelief, she actually hits it into the pit (accidentally that
is). Yul later joins them because Shin had promised to teach him how to
play ‘hitting the ball from the horse’ and Shin being a jerk, goes off to
play leaving Chaegyung there by herself.
Over at the Horse Riding Club, Shin’s friends and Hyorin are riding
horses. Hyorin is depressed over the fact Shin had promised to come along
but did a no-show and suggests they go back. Kang In agrees and consoles
her saying he’ll organize a club meeting later.
Now that Shin and Yul are together alone, Shin takes this opportunity and
tells Yul to be more careful next time addressing Chaegyung especially in
front of the adults as it’d arouse misunderstanding. Yul smiles and
answers, “I got it. I’ll pay more attention.” The two cousins then go off
and resume their game once more.
It is time for Shin and Chaegyung to attend their first public function
together, the opening of a gallery exhibition. Being the first time under
scrutiny by public, Chaegyung is extremely clumsy and makes mistakes here
and there such as dropping her purse and overeagerly posing for the
cameras with her signature peace sign, much to Shin’s chagrin. He mutters
under his breath for her to ‘stop it, it’s lame’ in which she replies,
smiling to the cameras, ‘no way’. Shin also wearing a false smile for the
cameras pats on her back with great force as revenge for her insolence.
Suddenly, out of nowhere, someone aims eggs right at Shin. This sets the
paparazzi on fire. Chaegyung is horrified and tries to block the eggs and
cover for Shin as the bodyguards quickly usher them out of the place.
Back at the palace, the king is furious as the flimsy security and the
unfolding of such an embarrassing event. The Queen and Great Queen is also
alarmed as to why someone would egg the Prince.
Scene switches to Yul’s mother and her friend whom is head of a news
reporting team. They are conspiring and it turns out that the ‘egging
scene’ was instigated by them in order to fuel the media and public’s
attention over the Prince. Yul’s mother is determined to overthrow his
position.
Back at Chaegyung’s quarters, she is sitting on the bench outside the deck
talking to Yul. She confides her distress over why anyone would egg the
Prince and how he must be feeling. She decides, she must go and see Shin
and see how he is faring. Yul dissuades her, saying that given Shin’s
condition now, he does not want anyone to pity him and more or less, would
rather see HyoRin than Chaegyung. “You better not go.” Yul says. Chaegyung
reasons, “But I can’t forget the expression on his face when he got hit by
the egg” As Chaegyung is confiding about Shin, she feels a strange feeling
lingering inside her. But when she tries to decipher it, Yul abruptly
grabs her hand. “You feel lonely right” Yul asks. Chaegyung feleing
uncomfortable, slowly pulls her hand away. Shin whom emerges out of his
room wanders into Chaegyung’s quarters to seek her out…only to find that
she is again, with Yul, chatting. He stares at them, turns around and
walks away bitterly. Meanwhile, Chaegyung can’t stand it any longer. She
stands up and tells Yul resolutely and that even if Shin rejects her and
rather see Hyorin, it is her duty to see his condition.
As she walks out, Shin asks from behind where she is going. She quickly
swipes her tears as he enters. Chae asks whether he is alright and he
admits although the incident was shocking, he is okay. He also adds that
at a time like this, he looked forward to her cheering up but instead,
found her enjoying his cousins’s company instead. He says “Nevermind.”,
waves dismissively and walks off. Chaegyung, without thought, runs after
him and hugs him from the back, apologizing with tears in her eyes. Shin
at first doesn’t react but gathers himself and slowly pulls himself out of
her hug. It is an awkward moment for them as they realize what had just
happened. So Shin lightens the situation but teasing her, which typically
gets her worked up and angry again. The bickering resumes.
Shin later leaves Chaegyung alone to go to the Horse Riding club and meet
his mates. There, his friends openly make fun of the ‘Princess’ again in
which he defends her. Hyorin looks at him strangely. Later at the stables,
they have a private talk where Hyorin states that she does not accept
Chaegyung being with Shin simply because she is inadequate. Shin says
nothing.
Hyorin and Yul’s mom later meets up for a yoga session, getting to know
each other more. Yul’s mom knows of Hyorin’s relationship with Shin and
decides to use her as a pawn in her game of uprooting Shin’s future king
status.
At the palace, Chaegyung gets ready for a party function later on in the
evening. She dresses up in her beautiful garments and admires it from a
hand mirror. Shin steps into the room and is stunned at the
transformation. Chaegyung looks across and they both make eyecontact to
which Shin realize he is gawking at her and averts his gaze.
At the party, Yul and his mom suddenly makes an unexpected entrance. This
attracts all of the media, taking pictures as they step into the room. The
Royal family is shocked at the reappearance of Yul’s mother and while the
Great Queen is thrilled, the Queen is far from it, eyeing at her
suspiciously. During the party, Yul’s mother slides side glances to the
uncomfortable king.
It is time to dance. After a couple finished, Shin steps into the center
of the dancefloor to declare his dance. He walks over to Chae and offers
his hand. Chae, flustered, refuses but after Shin grits his teeth and
hisses threateningly, “Get Up”, she has no choice but to do so. Lights
dim, the fast tango music begins. Chae is doing horrendously bad, trying
to keep up with her husband’s moves. He spins her out and it’s her time to
strut her stuff. Not knowing what to do, she spontaneously claps her hands
and twirls around Shin in a hilarious manner. In the end, they manage to
end the dance in a graceful manner with Shin pulling Chae into a dip. Once
they stand up, the room erupts into applauses and Chaegyung is
overwhelmed. Shin looks over to her and cracks a grin. Yul who is amongst
the crowd watching glares at them bitterly.
Outside, there is a beautiful display of fireworks. Fascinated, Chaegyung
pushes her way through the crowd to get a better view and finds herself
next to the King. Suddenly, she looks down and realizes she had lost a
shoe!! At that very moment, tones are hushed as the Prince emerges, walks
up and picks up the fallen shoe and carefully wears it back on for her,
Cinderella-styled. Shin looks up to Chaegyung’s disbelieving face as the
crowd around them applauds and cheers.
