New Age

Alien Opera by Joe Cecil

New Age electronic opera based on a visit to earth by a family of aliens. The music is mellow, intense, beautiful, scary, sad, fast, rythmic and symphonic. Joe Cecil is a gay artist whose music is influenced by Celtic Mythology and Buddhist chanting.

Deep Heart by Doug Smith

On his 3rd album, Doug explores some more inviting melodies with his intricate, finger-picking technique. Accompanied by sparse percussion and keyboards, he explores some fanciful evocations on originals, such as "Mystical Morning," and also shows his Micheal Hedges-inspired tapping technique on "Two Handed Paradox."

The Memory of Trees by Enya

"The Memory of Trees" is the fourth magical piece of work Enya has given to us. Her layering of voices has never been better! (She sometimes uses up to 500 voice tracks for a single song) This one will definitely appeal to all "new age" lovers. I guess I would have to say the highlight (if there is 'one') would be the song currently getting radio play- "Anywhere is..." It is a great song although I have always favored the selections performed in Gaelic Irish. I was never really into new age until I first heard Enya. Now, it may be my favorite genre of music. Also, be sure to check out her others releases; "The Celts", "Watermark", and "Shepherd Moons." You won't regret it!

The Private Music of Suzanne Ciani by Suzanne Ciani

Not as good as her "focused" albums 'cos this is a compilation of all of her favourite music. Songs in this album include "Anthem" and "Ondine" which is good, at least. Relaxing, as always, but not as inspirational as her previous albums.

Voices by Vangelis

You know something? I bought this album out of curiosity and have never regret ever since. I must admit that his best known hit Chariots of Fire has had prompted me to buy though. Anyway, the first song Voices, also title of the album, is a good number with complex voice arrangements. It kinda sound like those communist revolutionary song or something like that. The numbers Prelude and Dream In An Open Space are quite good too. The latter, especially sounds familiar. But who cares as long as it is good? The rest of the part instrumental/singing numbers are less outstanding, but however you can't expect everyone to be excellent. I would definitely recommend this to any New Age fanatics, although the album is a little short.
Rating: I dun want to lend you!
