What's happening with the Gibsons ?

But our main concern is to further God's mandate as commanded by Jesus and clearly outlined in Matthew 24:14 ('..the Gospel of the Kingdom will be preached to all ethnic groups then the end will come'). We could be bogged down with all the other end-time hype, but clearly our main goal now is to 'reach the unreached' and align our ministry so as to be a part of this according to His Call on our lives.

As mentioned before we believe Tim's main role is in TRAINING (polishing Bright Arrows to be effective in the dark areas) and Shen's main role is TRADING (Business for Mission- business that provides resources to accomplish His mission).
This year we will be re-shuffling our activities to reflect this. Tim will still continue as associate Pastor of Church of Singapore - Jurong (North Extension) but with more emphasis on Missions training (but life will still go on and Tim will still preach, lead worship etc..). Shen still continues to teach at a local Kindergarten from 10am-3pm but also has ongoing projects to raise missions resources.

This year Tim will launch out more to surrounding countries (particularly Indonesia and Malaysia) to link with Church groups to be involved in missions training and leading short-term teams, starting in January (see below for more on the Batam Project).
In March (first week) he takes a seminar on Vision and Calling in 'Daily Bread Church' in Kuala Lumpur, West Malaysia.
Later we will be reporting back on these activities.
 

THE LAST CHRISTMAS OF THE LAST MILLENIUM!

The last Christmas on the last millenium was a meaningful one for us and a very hectic time too! Our house became Children's home and canteen over the two weeks leading up to Christmas! Firstly we looked after three or our friend's kids whilst they were away in Thailand. At one point Tim found himself alone with six kids (including Mel, Gideon and Shen's niece Charis). He went over to Shen's school saying 'I resign!' but was comforted by theLord that night on reading a Chinese Christian's testimony of looking after six kids in intense persecution! God has a way of speaking timely words doesn't He ?

The next week Shen and her sister (Pat) , with help from other family members, cooked for over100 hungry teens in our Church youth camp. Our house became the canteen where all the food was made and  from which all the packed meals were collected. The Lord taught all of us much about patience and long suffering during this time. Overall the teens enjoyed the food very much andit was a successful venture!

Then came the last week leading up to our Church in Yishun's evangelistic event on Christmas Eve, called 'The Last Christmas'. 'Forerunner' a music group of youth from 'Campus Crusade for Christ' put on an anointed performance and eleven people commited their lives to Jesus that night and many more came forward for prayer and healing. We continue to follow up on this event and our Cell Group is praying for those in our area (Woodlands).

USHERING IN THE NEW MILLENIUM

Here in Singapore there were many choices of how to celebrate the New Millenium - swinging in a packed Orchard Road was one of them. However we preferred to spend it initially with good friends and then in prayer and worship at our combined Church of Singapore 'Millenium Watchnight service'.  What a glorious way to usher in the new Millenium, praising the King who will reign with us on earth in the Millenium when He returns for His Bride.

On a family note, Melody has now started going to Kindergarten (2) and is settling into School life very well. Gideon will be taught Nursery level by Tim  in the weekday mornings (when he's around). They both had their 5th(Melody) and 3rd (Gideon) birthdays as had a great time!

What does this new Millenium hold for us ? We believe many new things will come for us to be involved in..watch this space for the latest developments.

FURTHER AFIELD: Mission Trips Recently Tim has been having a burden to go into Indonesia once again. One opening has been recent visits to Batam (the closest Indonesian island to Singapore).  To read more about PROJECT BATAM and see maps and pictures download the PROJECT BATAM SOFTWARE which is in Help File format (450Kb) - just download INSTALL.EXE and run it, following instructions.  The pictures to the right give a brief glimpse into the direction the Lord is leading. Download the software to read more and see how you too can be involved!  Teams from Church of Singapore will regularly be active there from 2000 onwards - watch this space! We are adopting one local pastor there who has just planted a Church and will target new areas for Church planting.

1. For all the church ministry as outlined above. That God would add the increase and step in to make COS truly a missions church.
2. For Shen in her tuition/teaching and as she also continues her business for mission projects!
3. For Melody and Gideon.  Pray for Melody as she develops quickly that she would be a song unto the Lord. Kindergarten this year. Gideon starts homeschooling this year.
4. For the New Things the Lord is doing - Pray as outlined in the articles above.
5. For finances - with the increase or travelling and other ministry there will need to be more finances. Claim the verse 'Seek Ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things (basic necessities to do His will) will be added to you' on our behalf. Praise God for His provision!
