As with any hobby or sport, it takes time and
effort to learn the basic skills and gain experience in the outdoors. The best
way to learn and gain experience is to join an outdoor club and also take
relevant outdoor courses.
For novices, a good place to start would be
to join the Singapore Adventurers’ Club.
This club is run by volunteers and is one of the oldest adventure clubs in

various outdoor sports such as sports climbing, outdoor leadership, kayaking
etc. For outdoor leadership, PA runs a very good program for Adventure
leadership training called the Singapore
Adventure Leader Training or SALT for short.
The Singapore Mountaineering Federation (SMF)
will be running SALT courses in the future.
