We went to Paldor Peak in November 1995. Paldor Peak (5928m) is located in the Ganesh Himal, North-West of Kathmundu. The area around Paldor is suitable for use as a training ground for serious Himalayan climbing. Besides Paldor, there are several Peaks in this area which are worth climbing. As the area is relatively near to Kathmundu (one day bus ride and 5 days trek), it is possible to organise an entire climbing expedition within 3 weeks.

Picture on the left shows two of the climbers on a training session at highcamp on Paldor. This camp is located near a lake which was frozen when we were there. The area around this camp is very scenic and is an ideal training area, with running water available from the lake.
Picture shows Paldor Peak in the far distance from highcamp. It is still quite a distance to climb from this camp. A summit camp needs to be placed another four hours climb from this camp. From the summit camp, it is a very long day to climb Paldor.
On this expedition I brought along Paul and Spencer who were on their first Himalayan climbing Expedition. Clifton, in the middle of the picture, has been with me on several trekking and climbing expeditions over the last decade.
